Comments: The old ruins of Las Ruedas are at the Pecos River not far from Rowe. The early people of Rowe came from there to work on the railroad. My family (Archuletas) moved from Las Ruedas to Rowe in the 1870's and 1880's. They were the decendants of Juan de Jesus Archuleta. His sons and daughters were Jose Caterino, Jesus, Jose Eluogio, Mauricio, Pablo and my grandmother Ignacia Archuleta. If you are a decendant or know of the place email me at pmartin@bacavalley.com

Comments: How come they closed the road between Rowe and Las Colonias? Who did it? Did the Forked Lightning go to the County Commission and have the road vacated?

Comments: Roy Archuleta, are you the gentleman that was in Pueblo, Colorado at our local library not to long ago? If so, do you give presentations regarding your research. I am a member of GSHA-Pueblo Chapter and I am responsible for finding speakers for our meetings. I see you live in NM, do you ever come to Colorado. I can be reached at v_estrada2000hotmail.com. I am also interested in buying your book but if you come to CO, we can set up something.

Comments: I remember Rowe in the mid to late 50's. The church still had a 5 foot tapia all of the way around. There were 3 stores, The ET Padilla store, the Trader Horn or "La Tienda Grande" and the Midway Bar and Groc. at the other end of town. The Lucky 7 "motel" was still there and I-25 was way in the future. The train depot was still there and a guy by the name of Dave was the "operator" at the time. And "el embarcadero" was the big AT$SF corral right next to the RR tracks. Lots and lots of sheep were loaded on trains there. There was not one street light nor 1 house trailer.
