Comments: I have been involved in the NM DNA Project for two years. I had my Y-DNA tested and discovered what my ancient Origins are. Being a descendant of an early Spanish Colonial Soldier, this information helped me get an understanding of who my ancestors in Spain were and what their role in Iberian history was. I have also used DNA testing in a comparative manner in which I compare family trees and Y-DNA results to verify particular lineages. Using this approach, I have compared many lineages including the Cristobal de Torres lineage; I’ve used this approach on projects such as “History of the Espinosas of New Mexico”, “Genetic Origins of the Plaza del Cerró” and am currently expanding this information to encompass the Santa Cruz de la Cañada Valley. I encourage those who are interested in their heritage and are of Spanish Colonial descent to consider the NM DNA Project.
