Comments: Robert, I would suggest getting a microfilm copy of the Deming Headlight newspaper through inter library loan (ILL) from your local public library. Any books written by local historians from Luna County are, most likely, going to be mostly folkloric \"history\". Beware of any \"memoirs\" and/or \"old timer\'s\" accounts they are going to be mostly fiction. I can say this with some authority as I have spent many years researching the early history of both Grant and Hidalgo Counties and learned the hard way not to trust the previously mentioned accounts. Oral histories have their place but are notoriously inaccurate. Hope this helps.

Comments: Thanks for the tip, jp. I am interested in 19th century history of the ranches/farms in the Deming/Columbus area and the ties to communities south of the border.
